Wyatt, You are 1 Month Old!

We cannot believe you are already one month old!  The time has flown by and we wish it would slow down!  At your last doctor's appointment, you weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and you are growing like a weed!  You are now 21 inches long but you are still wearing your newborn clothes.  I'm pretty sure we won't be able to use them much longer though!  You eat 4-6 ounces of formula at each feeding and you eat 6 bottles a day.

You are sleeping through the night and we couldn't be happier! Your baby bed is almost ready and soon you will be in your big boy bed!  You love to take naps in your Moses Basket and you hang out with Mommy in your Nap Nanny.  The Musical Seahorse is your new friend and you love him!

You love your Bulldogs and root for them on Saturdays!  You haven't yet picked your team to cheer for on Sundays, but Mommy hopes you pick the Saints and Daddy hopes you choose the Falcons.  We will have to see which team you choose, but I am sure that we will do some persuading!  :)

We finally got your birth announcements done and Mommy sent them out.  We mailed 75 announcements... Boy are you LOVED!!

Wyatt, we love you so much and want you to know what a blessing you are to us!  God answered so many prayers when He gave us you!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Wyatt's Birth Story...

On August 11, 2012 at 1:14 am, we welcomed our son, Wyatt.  It was an amazing experience that I would like to share...

It all started on Thursday evening.  We were scheduled to be induced and were told to call the hospital at 4:00 to see if we were able to check in.  When we called, we were then told that there were no beds and to call back at 7:00.  Kevin and I decided to go to his parent's house since we would need to be in the area to head to the hospital.  At 7:00, we anxiously made the second phone call and were again told that there were no beds.  Ugh...  The nurse told us that she would call us when a room was available.  Again we waited... and waited.

Around 8:00, my Mom arrived in Atlanta, so we went to their hotel to visit for a while, phone in hand.  We loved catching up and chatting, but at 10:30, we wanted to get something to eat before the nurses called.  As we sat at Wendy's eating a late night snack, we called the hospital once more.  The house is about 30 minutes from the hospital, and we wanted to know what we needed to do... head back to our house to spend the night or continue to wait.  The nurse told us that it would be VERY SOON.  We chose to go to the Pace's house to wait.  Sure enough, as soon as I laid down, the phone call came.  Come now and check in they told us, so we were headed to the hospital at 11:30 pm.  By 1:00, we were all checked in, and settled in our room.  My sweet hubby wrote everything down as the night went one and took extra good care of me!  I could not ask for a better husband!

Our first nurse was Ashley, and she was very nice.  She put in my IV and gave me my first dose of Cytotec and a dose of Ambien to help me sleep.  For 4 hours, I slept very peacefully until Ashley came back with my 2nd dose of Cytotec.  No contractions yet!  At 6:00 am, we got a new nurse, Cindy.  At 11:50, she gave me my next dose of Cytotec and the doseage was increased.  At this point, I was dialated 1 cm.  We were a little discouraged... this was going very slow.  At 3:30, I received my last dose of Cytotec and that did it!  My parents were in the room and I was talking with my Mom.  In mid-sentence, the contractions began and they came all at once.  It seemed that there was no time between them.  When Cindy returned to the room, it was clear that I was ready for an epidural.

Then came the hardest hour.  At 5:15, the aneistesiologist came to administer the epidural.  He was Russian and explained everything that was going to happen.  This was one of the parts of labor that I feared the most.  As I sat up in bed, my water broke.  It turns out that the baby had a bowel movement in the womb and we would need several special nurses and doctors in the room to assist Wyatt when he was born.  I was assured that this was not unusual and not to worry.  I leaned forward and held onto Kevin for support as the epidural was put in.  Soon, the pain was almost gone.

After the epidural, all was right with the world... almost.  The pain from the contractions was almost gone except in one spot.  Dr. Chappell told me that I had a "hot spot" and after 2 re-doses of the epidural, the doctor came back and told me he was going to give me the TOP SHELF in my epidural.  That did it! NO more pain!  He was my best friend!

We got a new nurse at 6:00- Michelle.  She was a God Send!  She let us know that she had a reputation of fast deliveries and very few C-Sections.  She let me know that I was dialated to 3.5 cm.  Much better than my 1 cm a few hours earlier, but still not a lot of progress.  She told me to rest, so I slept, watched the Olympics, and chatted with my parents.  We had lots of visitors in the waiting room all anxiously waiting the arrival of our sweet bundle of joy.  Everyone came in and gave their well wishes.

Finally, at 10:00, Michelle checked me and I was dialated 8 cm in 45 minutes!  She was right!  Her reputation remained in tact!  Everyone in the waiting room was excited!

By 11:00, we were 10 cm and almost ready to push.  I was very nervous, but Kevin and my Mom were there and they were the best cheerleaders.  After 37 minutes of pushing, we were blessed with our son, Wyatt.  He was laid on my chest and he is the most beautiful baby!  Kevin did an amazing job and was not affected by the delivery at all!  My mom was an amazing coach and I could not have done it without the two of them!

Our sweet baby Wyatt was born on August 11th at 1:14 am.  He weighed 6 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches long.  He is a wonderful blessing that we have waited 5 long years for and we couldn't be happier!  Finally, we are a family of 3!

Getting Closer...

Wow... I cannot believe that I am 36 weeks today!  So much has happened in the last 2 months and we have been SO busy!  School is finally out and I have the summer to get ready for my new little one.  June was incredibly busy with vacation and showers.  I have met every doctor in our office and I love them all.  I've had a very uneventful pregnancy, which is a blessing and we can't believe we only have 4 weeks left!

In the middle of June, we went on our annual beach vacation with my family and we had a blast!  Lots of time was spent at the pool, on the boat, and just having fun in the condo.  I think we may outgrow the condo soon!

We had SO much fun on vacation and hated to come home! Can't wait until next year when we will have Baby Wyatt with us! Those 3 boys will have so much fun!

When we got home, we had our 3rd baby shower. It was lots of fun and we were spoiled again! Thanks to Mrs. Pace, we didn't have far to travel and it was a wonderful day!

July has been full of doctor's appointments, we are up to every week now, choosing a pediatrician, working in Wyatt's room, and lots of other things! We are ready for a break, but I don't see one in the near future! Oh well!

Our good friends Chris and Carrie hosted a party for Kevin and I and Baby Wyatt. It was a tailgate theme and we had so much fun! Everything was football and really got me in the mood for football season. Once again, we were spoiled!! We made Kevin open the gifts at this party and he could tell us what most things were, but some gifts still stumped him! Wyatt got his first pair of Baby Air Jordans and his first blue box from Tiffany's!

This week, we chose a company to put in our new hardwood floors and carpet! I am SOOO excited about getting rid of our current carpet! The guys will be here next week to put in our new floors and I couldn't be happier. Now, we just need to have little man stay put for a few more weeks...

Finally... Summertime!

It is finally summer vacation and I am enjoying every minute of it.  We have been SO busy lately and have only been home for a few weekends in the last few months.  All is well with Baby Wyatt and Dr. W says we are "boring".  I think that after all that we have been through, I will gladly take boring!!  I am measuring right on schedule and into week 30.

To recap the last 2 months...

In April, we met my parents in Fairhope with the Pace family for a little rest, relaxation, and fishing for the boys.  We went down on a Thursday night and stayed until Sunday.  Here are a few pics from our trip...

We had a wonderful time and I was reluctant to come back to the real world!  But we had to come back so that I could finish the end of the school year.  On May 10th, my fabulous team threw me a school baby shower.  I was overwhelmed by the amount of love and support that my school showed to us.  It was such a wonderful baby shower and we got so many things for baby Wyatt!  I can't thank them enough!

That weekend, we were going to go to Jackson for my birthday, Mother's Day, and so we could meet our new nephew, Grant.  On Friday, Kevin surprised me with my new "Momma Car"!  I knew I was getting it, but I didn't know I would be getting it so soon!  Now we have room for Baby Wyatt!

I love him!  :)

The following weekend was my little brother's wedding.  It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous wedding!  We had lots of fun!

We finally got a weekend to spend at home the following week and we used this time to paint Wyatt's room.  We emptied his room, painted it, installed a ceiling fan, and moved and organized his things back into his room.  Then, his sweet daddy-to-be bought him a dresser and put it together.  Such a good man!!

Finally, on June 2nd, we traveled back to Mississippi for the Jackson baby shower.  We had so much fun and so many of our family members were there.  We felt so loved!  I opened gifts for over an hour and we had to leave some of our gifts in Mississippi to get them later.  My wonderful sisters, sister-in-law, and friends were our wonderful hostesses and they really outdid themselves.  It was such a fun shower and I am pretty sure that everyone had a great time!  Later that night, we went to dinner with some of Kevin's family and laughed until we hurt!  It was such an amazing weekend!

Family!
Whew!!  Going through our past two months makes me tired!  We get two weeks to rest and then we head to Nashville for three days and the BEACH!  I can't wait to rest, relax, and ride on the boat!  The best part is that we will get to spend a whole week with my family!  SO READY!!  Until then...
